{"id":2999,"date":"2015-12-21T10:59:39","date_gmt":"2015-12-21T15:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/avtech.com\/Support\/faq\/?p=2999"},"modified":"2025-01-06T13:06:06","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T18:06:06","slug":"set-push-device-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/2999\/set-push-device-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Set Up Push To Device ManageR"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc3cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6dde7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n\n\n\n<p>Room Alert &#8216;S&#8217; models are not compatible with Device ManageR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Push to Device ManageR<\/em> was removed from the following Room Alert &#8216;E&#8217; models, as of these firmware versions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Room Alert 32E v3.3.0 released June 4, 2021<\/li><li>Room Alert 12E v3.3.0 released June 4, 2021<\/li><li>Room Alert 4E v4.4.0 released June 4, 2021<\/li><li>Room Alert 3E v2.4.0 released June 4, 2021<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically, you will not need to enable push to Device ManageR in your Room Alert monitor. However, if you are unable to discover your Room Alert automatically or with the software&#8217;s Advanced Discovery feature, you may find push to be the best fit. Push to Device ManageR is available in legacy Room Alert models.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#ded760;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#f8f17a;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n<p>If you enable push to Device ManageR in your Room Alert, it must be the only way the unit is discovered in Device ManageR. Push to Device ManageR conflicts with the software&#8217;s automatic and advanced discovery methods.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to configure Device ManageR push<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To successfully use push to Device ManageR, you must configure <strong>both<\/strong> the Room Alert Monitor <strong>and<\/strong> the Device ManageR software. Please follow both steps below:<\/h5>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-accordion su-u-trim\">\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-anchor=\"configure_room_alert\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 1: Configure Your Room Alert Monitor<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>To configure your Room Alert Monitor to push to Device ManageR, please follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open your Room AlertMonitor\u2019s web interface. You may open the interface using Device Discovery, Device ManageR, or your account at <a href=\"http:\/\/roomalert.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RoomAlert.com<\/a>. You may also type the IP address of the unit directly into the address bar of your web browser.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Settings<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Advanced<\/strong> in the menu that appears below Settings.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>Advanced Settings<\/em> page, select <strong>Device ManageR Configuration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>Device ManageR Configuration<\/em> page:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Select <strong>Enable Push<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In <em>Server IP Address<\/em>, enter the IP address of the computer that Device ManageR is installed on.<\/li>\n<li>In <em>Server Port<\/em>, you may leave the default, 8080, unless you have changed Device ManageR&#8217;s HTTP port to&nbsp;another number. (You may check Device ManageR&#8217;s HTTP port by opening Device ManageR and navigating to <strong>Settings<\/strong>&#8211;&gt;<strong>Web Server<\/strong>&#8211;&gt;<strong>Port For Web Access<\/strong>.)<\/li>\n<li>In <em>Push Interval<\/em>, you may leave the default, <strong>1&nbsp;Minute<\/strong>, or choose a larger time interval from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Save Settings<\/strong> at the top or bottom of the page. Your Room Alert Monitor will automatically reboot and commit your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/RA_Settings_Advanced_Push_to_ADM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3035\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/RA_Settings_Advanced_Push_to_ADM.png\" alt=\"RA_Settings_Advanced_Push_to_ADM\" width=\"600\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/RA_Settings_Advanced_Push_to_ADM.png 1122w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/RA_Settings_Advanced_Push_to_ADM-300x151.png 300w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/RA_Settings_Advanced_Push_to_ADM-1024x517.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-anchor=\"configure_device_manager\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 2: Configure Device ManageR<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>When a Room Alert Monitor pushes to Device ManageR, Device ManageR must not also be attempting to discover it with automatic discovery (UPD broadcast) or Advanced Discovery (TCP scan).<\/p>\n<p>These instructions require you to start and stop the Device ManageR service. This FAQ shows you how: <a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/140\/how-to-stop-start-and-restart-the-device-manager-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How To Stop, Start And Restart The Device ManageR Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>First, disable UDP broadcasts and UDP communications.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Please note that when you disable UDP, no devices will be discovered automatically by Device ManageR.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Device ManageR in your web browser. You may open it by entering \u2018localhost:8080\u2019 or \u2018&lt;IP address of Device ManageR\u2019s host system&gt;:8080\u2019 in your browser\u2019s address bar.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Settings<\/strong>&#8211;&gt;<strong>Discovery<\/strong> in the navigation bar to the left.<\/li>\n<li>In the <em>Discovery<\/em> page:\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Select <strong>Disable Auto Discovery<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Disable UDP Communications<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Save Settings<\/strong> to save your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_Discovery_Disable_UDP.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3032\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_Discovery_Disable_UDP.png\" alt=\"ADM_Settings_Discovery_Disable_UDP\" width=\"600\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_Discovery_Disable_UDP.png 924w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ADM_Settings_Discovery_Disable_UDP-300x121.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">5. You&#8217;ll need to restart the Device ManageR service at least once as part of preparing Device ManageR for push\u2014you can do that now, or you can do it as part of the steps below (or both). Any device that was previously discovered only by automatic discovery will no longer appear in Device ManageR once you restart.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Next, remove your Room Alert Monitor from Device ManageR&#8217;s TCP host list if it&#8217;s there.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">You only need to perform this step if you have previously discovered your Room Alert Monitor using the <em>Advanced Discovery<\/em> feature. If so, your Room Alert Monitor will be listed on the <em>tcphostlist.txt<\/em> file in your Device ManageR program files, and Device ManageR will continue to attempt to discover it using a TCP scan. You&#8217;ll need to remove the Room Alert Monitor from this list so that the two methods of discovery (push to Device ManageR from the Room Alert and TCP scan from Device ManageR) don&#8217;t conflict.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">You may remove your Room Alert Monitor from the TCP host list with the steps below.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Stop the Device ManageR service.<\/li>\n<li>In Device ManageR&#8217;s host system, navigate to Device ManageR&#8217;s installation directory (<i>C:\\Program Files\\AVTECH Device ManageR<\/i> or <i>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\AVTECH Device ManageR<\/i> by default).<\/li>\n<li>Open the &#8216;conf&#8217; folder.<\/li>\n<li>Then open the &#8216;tcphostlist.txt&#8217; file using Notepad or another text editor.\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Erase the IP address(es) you no longer wish to discover using a TCP scan.<\/li>\n<li>Save the &#8216;tcphostlist.txt&#8217; file. (You may need to give yourself Windows administrator permissions to do this.)<\/li>\n<li>Close the &#8216;tcphostlist.txt&#8217; file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Start the Device ManageR service.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What triggers a push from your Room Alert<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This feature pushes&nbsp;sensor data to your installation of Device ManageR at scheduled intervals (as low as 1 minute) and under the following conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When your unit first boots (and every time it reboots).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When an external digital sensor is first connected or disconnected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When your unit\u2019s internal or an external temperature sensor reading rises or falls by 2 whole degree Celsius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When your unit\u2019s internal or an external humidity sensor reading rises or falls by 5 percent relative humidity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When any switch sensor on your unit changes state from open to closed (and vice versa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Room Alert 4E only: when a ping changes from reachable to unreachable (and vice versa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When your unit\u2019s built-in or an external analog sensor rises or falls by 0.25 volts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When any Light Tower or relay is manually toggled on\/off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 When a threshold you&#8217;ve set on the Room Alert Monitor&#8217;s <em>Settings&nbsp;<\/em>\u2192 <em>Sensors<\/em> page is exceeded (and when that condition clears).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Typically, you will not need to enable push to Device ManageR in your Room Alert monitor.
