A number of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>customers have been asking<\/span>\u00a0us<\/span>\u00a0about Device\u00a0<\/a><\/span>ManageR<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and what<\/span>\u00a0our plan is for future updates and new releases<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0With support for Flash ending later this year,\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0important for us to share\u00a0<\/span>the news of\u00a0<\/span>our development of the new\u00a0<\/span>Room Alert Manager<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0This new p<\/span>latform<\/span>\u00a0is being developed from the ground up to take what our customers love most about Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>improve on it with a modern interface, integrated support for Room Alert Account, and improved support and features for all Room Alert monitors and sensors.<\/span>\u00a0Look for more installments in this series about Room Alert Manager as we get closer to the official launch of the new software; we plan to share more information on features, screen shots and more over the coming weeks.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Device\u00a0<\/span><\/b>ManageR<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Software – Past, Present, And Future<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0has been our primary software for local Room Alert alerting, reporting, graphing and management for many years now. It<\/span>\u00a0has<\/span>\u00a0proven to be a solid and reliable package that our users can add on to with plugins, depending on their own needs and de<\/span>sired functionality when it comes to how they are using Room Alert environment monitors.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0has been a long-time monitoring choice for many of our users, we have reached the point where\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0time to start introducing a new platform for\u00a0<\/span>local Room Alert management.\u00a0<\/span>So<\/span>\u00a0let\u2019s take a look at how AVTECH first developed Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0software, how our customers are currently using it with their Room Alert monitors, and what the next generation in Room Alert software is going to\u00a0<\/span>include<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Device\u00a0ManageR\u00a0f<\/span><\/b>irst introduced to help Room Alert users in 2008<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Until the release of Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>AVTECH\u2019s primary software offering\u00a0<\/span>was\u00a0<\/span>PageR<\/span>\u00a0Enterprise,\u00a0<\/span>which<\/span>\u00a0offered a wide variety of monitoring and alerting options for networks and devices. With the rise of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>TemPageR<\/span>\u00a0and Room Alert hardware lines<\/a>, we wanted to develop software that would aid in device setup, alerting, and reporting.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0was officially introduced in 2008 as a local download for our customers who w<\/span>anted to monitor and manage\u00a0<\/span>all of<\/span>\u00a0their devices from one centralized\u00a0<\/span>application<\/span>. When it was released<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0one of the\u00a0<\/span>best<\/span>\u00a0features was\u00a0<\/span>it\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0built in reporting that was limited only by the available disk space users were utilizing for their report dat<\/span>a storage. As environment monitoring started to become more of a critical business continuity component, many industries such as cold storage and medical fields began regulating data retention to prove environment conditions were consistently met. Device\u00a0<\/span>M<\/span>anageR<\/span>\u00a0helped those users meet compliance\u00a0<\/span>and also<\/span>\u00a0gave them a deeper look into all of the sensor data that they were collecting.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0also acted as a primary monitoring tool before online services were readily available due to bandwidth and br<\/span>owser technology at the time. Prior to offering an online dashboard<\/span>\u00a0through Room Alert Account at RoomAlert.com<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>users were heavily reliant on Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0for all of their Room Alert monitoring and alerting needs, especially if they had a number of monitors and sensors deployed throughout\u00a0<\/span>their facility or across multiple locations. Even today with our Room Alert Account service<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0some of our customers prefer to use Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0due to their familiarity with it, along with some industry security guidelines that don\u2019t allow their monitors to<\/span>\u00a0connect to our online dashboard for alerting and reporting, even with newer security features found in our Room Alert 32S<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The plugins that we offer with Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0for automatic corrective action, such as graceful server shutdowns or remote device\u00a0<\/span>reboots, remain extremely popular with our users and are one of our top downloads. Likewise, the ability to easily integrate AXIS cameras with Room Alert monitors within Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0is a welcome feature for users that incorporate additional monitoring i<\/span>nto their facilities. For\u00a0<\/span>all of<\/span>\u00a0these reasons, and many more not mentioned, Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0remains a staple for so many of our users worldwide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Modern compatibility and features, along with user requests<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a>Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0has seen a number of updates and u<\/span>pgrades over the last 12 years, however the ability to continue work on Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0became a concern when it was announced that Flash would no longer be supported in the near future by most modern web browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, and Edge among\u00a0<\/span>others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once we learned that Flash support would gradually be\u00a0<\/span>phased out by modern web browsers<\/span>, it was apparent that we needed to work on the next generation of local Room Alert monitoring software. We are seeing increased use of our Room Alert Account portal on a weekly basis, s<\/span>howing the importance of managing alerts, reports, graphs and more from anywhere at any time through any internet-connected device. Some of our users have also integrated their Room Alert monitors and sensors into third-party SNMP monitoring packages, whic<\/span>h has allowed them to install Room Alert into their existing facility and network monitoring software quickly and easily.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even w<\/span>ith those options available<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>we\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0still heard from a wide range of users who want to continue using Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>, or another AVTE<\/span>CH local software application, as they\u2019ve come to enjoy the features a locally downloaded software provides. Keeping that in mind, our engineering team has been hard at work on an all-new software <\/span>platform<\/span>\u00a0for our users – Room Alert Manager.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Room Alert Manager and D<\/span><\/b>evice\u00a0<\/span><\/b>ManageR<\/span><\/b>\u00a0– providing full local Room Alert support<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Room Alert Manager is currently being designed to feature\u00a0<\/span>all of<\/span>\u00a0the best, most popular features of Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0while building in a number of new options to take environment monitoring\u00a0<\/span>to the next level<\/span>\u00a0for<\/span>\u00a0all of our users.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As we noted above, our Room Alert Account online dashboard has been increasing in popularity and use as customers grow to depend on it as an online portal and central dashboard for all their monitors and sensors<\/span><\/span><\/span>. O<\/span>ne international telecom\u00a0<\/span>even\u00a0<\/span>noted it was the best online dashboard that their\u00a0<\/span>employees currently have access to<\/span>. Given the familiarity<\/span>\u00a0many of our users have with Device\u00a0<\/span>ManageR<\/span>\u00a0and our Room Alert Account dashboard, we want the new Room Alert Manager to have the same look and feel as the dashboard. This will help our users, especially newer ones, find features quickly and easily across b<\/span>oth platforms and allow them to get even more functionality out of their alerts, graphs, reports, mapping and more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Room Alert Manager will have a much higher level of integration with Room Alert Account.\u00a0<\/span>We\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0heard from many users that they prefer to use multiple methods to manage their monitors and sensors, as they offer different yet complimentary funct<\/span>ions. To help foster more facility protection we are designing Room Alert Manager to share functionality with the Room Alert Account dashboard and act as a redundant monitoring system in the event of downtime, and internet or power failures. Protecting you<\/span>r facility against downtime and damage is our primary goal, and we feel that providing a fully encompassed user experience between Room Alert firmware, Room Alert Account, and Room Alert Manager will help our users with streamlined ease of use across all o<\/span>f our products.<\/span>\u00a0All will be available to use individually or in tandem as a complete platform to meet the needs of\u00a0<\/span>all customers.
