For instructions on how to update your device, please see <a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/18541\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How To Update Firmware On MAX Base Stations<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Follow these steps to configure SNMPv3 settings on your Room Alert MAX Base Station:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>First, open the Base Station\u2019s web interface.<br>You may do this by typing its IP address directly into your browser\u2019s URL.<br>For help, please see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/172\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How To Discover A Room Alert Monitor<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log In to the web interface.<br>For help, please see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/13255\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How To Open Your Room Alert Monitor\u2019s Built-in Web Interface<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate to&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2192&nbsp;<strong>SNMP<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The default <em>Security Level<\/em> is <em><strong><em><strong>With no authentication or privacy<\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/em>.\n<ul>\n<li>You may select a different <em>Security Level<\/em> from the drop-down menu. <br><em>Please see the <a href=\"#tips\">Tips &amp; Recommendations<\/a> section in this FAQ for additional information.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Depending on your chosen <em>Security Level<\/em>, you\u2019ll see some or all of these additional fields:\n<ul>\n<li>In <em>Username<\/em>, enter the username that\u2019s configured in your SNMP monitoring program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <em>Authorization Protocol<\/em>, select the protocol that your SNMP monitoring program is configured to use.\n<ul>\n<li>The default is <em><strong>HMAC MD5 authentication protocol<\/strong><\/em>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <em>Authentication Password<\/em>, enter the authentication password that\u2019s configured in your SNMP monitoring program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <em>Privacy* Password<\/em>, enter the privacy password that\u2019s configured in your SNMP monitoring program. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Save<\/strong> at the bottom of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc7cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6e1e7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#000612;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n\n\n\n<p>* Your SNMP program must be configured to use the AES privacy algorithm.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"su-tabs-pane su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" data-title=\"Room Alert 32S, 12S &amp; Your Room Alert will automatically reboot and commit your changes. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc7cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6e1e7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#000612;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">\n\n\n\n<p>* Your SNMP program must be configured to use the AES privacy algorithm.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"su-tabs-pane su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" data-title=\"Tips &amp; Recommendations\">\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some SNMP clients have restrictions with v3 communications that affect how they interact with Room Alert Monitors. For best results, we recommend the following:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong>Choose a more-secure configuration level.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-row\"><div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-3\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-column su-column-size-3-3\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n\n\n\n<p>Configure your device to use either of these <em>Security Levels<\/em>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>With both authentication and privacy<\/strong><br>or <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>With authentication but no privacy<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Although the Room Alert firmware additionally supports the less-secure option, <strong>No authentication or privacy<\/strong>, this level is not fully supported by some SNMP clients.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Configure your credentials for Read-Only functionality.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"su-row\"><div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-3\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-column su-column-size-3-3\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n\n\n\n<p>Within the SNMP client, configure <strong>Read-Only<\/strong> credentials for your Room Alert device.
