Set up a connection status alert on your Room Alert Monitor.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; This is the most straight-forward method; use it to create independent alerts for connection status.<\/p>\n<h4>2. Enable the <em>Alarm if item is unavailable for X scans<\/em>\u00a0feature in an alert.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Use this method to tack-on connection status monitoring to any existing alert.<\/p>\n<h4>3. Adjust these settings as needed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2. Next, go to Device ManageR&#8217;s <strong>Alerts\/Tasks<\/strong> tab and select <strong>Alerts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3. In the <em>Alerts<\/em> list, locate an alert that&#8217;s associated with your Room Alert Monitor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In our example, we&#8217;re choosing a temperature alert on an external sensor that&#8217;s connected to our Room Alert 12E.<\/p>\n<p>4. In the <em>Edit Existing &#8216;Alert&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0box, you&#8217;ll see the <em>Alarm if item is unavailable for X scans<\/em>\u00a0field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; This feature is enabled by default. In our example, this alert will trigger under <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">any<\/span> of the following conditions:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; The &#8220;Server Rack 1&#8221; temperature reading goes above 77 Fahrenheit.<br \/>\n&#8211; Our Room Alert 12E stops communicating with Device ManageR.<br \/>\n&#8211; The external sensor &#8220;Server Rack 1&#8221; is disconnected from the Room Alert box.<\/p>\n<p>7. After you save your changes, you can test the alert by disconnecting your Room Alert Monitor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; If the alert triggers too quickly or takes too long to trigger,\u00a0adjust the the <em>for ___ scans <\/em>value\u00a0and\/or\u00a0adjust your\u00a0<em>Discovery Settings.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc3cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6dde7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">If you enable the <em>Alarm if item is unavailable for X scans<\/em>\u00a0feature on multiple alerts that are associated with the same Room Alert Monitor, disconnecting the Room Alert Monitor will trigger all of those alerts. This will cause multiple alert notifications to be sent.<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Ping connection status alert<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>Ping alerts allow for quicker, more sensitive connection status monitoring. You can also use this method to monitor the connection status of other types of devices on your network.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-tabs su-tabs-style-default su-tabs-mobile-stack\" data-active=\"1\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-tabs-nav\"><span class=\"\" data-url=\"\" data-target=\"blank\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How it works<\/span><span class=\"\" data-url=\"\" data-target=\"blank\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">How to set it up<\/span><\/div><div class=\"su-tabs-panes\"><div class=\"su-tabs-pane su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" data-title=\"How it works\">\n<div class=\"su-row\"><div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-2\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>For this type of alert, you&#8217;ll first set up a &#8220;Monitor Network Device&#8221; ping in Device ManageR. (This ping is separate from your discovered Room Alert Monitor.)<\/p>\n<p>Device ManageR checks the ping&#8217;s status through a\u00a0process that runs every 30 seconds. Each scan will try that ping for the number of times specified in &#8220;Max Retries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#bcc3cd;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#d6dde7;border-color:#ffffff;color:#305d8c;border-radius:5px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px;\">At default settings, ping alerts will trigger more quickly than the other alert methods.
